Q: How long is the season?
A: The season runs from the beginning of May until the end of July / start of August. Practice starts in May, with meets starting at the beginning of June. The competitive season runs until League Finals held at the beginning of August and the Contra Costa County championship meet in mid-August for those swimmers who qualify.
A: Practice is held Monday through Thursday when school is in session. During the summer, practices are Monday through Friday and times are adjusted. Please check the website for this year's practice times.
Q: What are the Stingrays' Attendance and Absence policies?
A: Attending practice every day is the best way to ensure progress. Coaches encourage swimmers to arrive early as they will start one group while the previous group is still in the water.
Since creating the line-ups for each meet takes a lot of time, parents MUST let the coaching staff know, at least one week in advance, if their child will be unable to attend a scheduled swim meet or invitational. Swimmers MUST be signed out of meets online. It is extremely helpful if you advise your child’s coach of vacation plans as far in advance as possible. If something comes up last minute, email Coach Steve or Coach Joe as soon as possible: coach@bsrswim.org
A: Various announcements, entry forms, stars, and ribbons will be distributed via the Family Folders. Each family will have a file marked with the swimmer's name, located in a filing cabinet near the shed at practices. Files should be checked on a daily basis. You can also leave our coaches notes or forms in their folders.
Flyers being distributed through the Family Folders must have prior approval by a Stingrays Board member or Head Coach.
